Carolan Lodge, Twilight Park, Haines Falls, NY

When I was growing up I spent a many lazy summer days at a family summer cottage in the Catskills Mountains.  The cottage was given the grandiose name of Carolan Lodge.  I believe it was named that to help the Carolan name "live on" as my paternal great-grandfather, Patrick Carolan, has no male offspring.

For me, that area in the Catskills always felt more like home than anywhere else as we moved frequently due to my father's corporate career. Also most of my father's family is buried up there, as are my mother and her sister. So that summer house represents family to me and that is why I named this site after it. Also as I began to pursue my genealogy, I realized that at least one member of the Smith, Carolan, Krause and Schwob branches of my family tree had been to the house.
